El Salvador, Santa Ana Volcano, Dwarf Huila Natural-Anaerobic 48h, 200g

This lot comes from the variety often referred to as Pink Bourbon, first identified in Huila, Colombia. Its true genetic background remains uncertain, and it is still under research. Despite its name, evidence suggests it is not a traditional Bourbon.

On Rodolfo’s farm, where Bourbon varieties are the main focus, the differences were immediately noticeable.

This "Pink Bourbon" shows genetic instability: some plants grow tall while others stay short. This variation indicates that the variety may actually be a more recent hybrid rather than a pure Bourbon type.

To capture its unique character, the plants were separated by type. The Huila lot offered here is planted exclusively with the short (dwarf) Huila plants, allowing a more consistent and distinct expression of this intriguing variety.

The variety was deliberately named “Huila” instead of “Pink Bourbon” to set the record straight and correct a previous misidentification.

Rodolfo says the cherries are so sweet that most of the crop was eaten by some mammals (likely a field mice). He assumes they won't be planting more of these trees so his lot is very small and the production is limited.
